The Recon is our most popular sluice and has revolutionized Placer Mining! It is only 18″ long, made of tough ABS construction and weighs 2.2 lbs. The Recon is easily capable of processing 4-5 buckets per hour or more (depending on time for classifying material).

Our patented fluid dynamics technology washes material as it enters the trap providing a thorough and complete separation and extraction of heavy materials. It also incorporates a “pass-through” water system that eliminates clogging issues that plague fluid bed systems. Another key feature is the flip-up material tray cover that allows you to visually inspect the trap or easily clean your Recon sluice into a pan and reset it back into the stream in about thirty seconds!

Designed to fit easily into a 5-gallon bucket or small backpack, it is the perfect tool for prospecting new areas, working alone or in a two man team!

Just wanted to give a review on the recon, I only had a couple of hours to use it but I was very happy with its performance. I was working along sharps creek near the bohemia mine in west-central oregon, I was using a 3/8 inch classifier and had to use a little more water velocity but it ran good and kept the grizzly clear! I want to drop to a 1/4 inch classifier so that I will be sure to catch all the fine gold.

but even with the higher velocity and larger classifier I was still able to catch a few flakes and some fine gold, and a good amount of black sand too. The design is very good and well thought out and I will do a lot better once I have more time to work the creeks..

Also I wanted to thank the guys at snake river products for the very fast shipping and great packaging of there product.

I went to the Pomona gold show there demo wasn’t working.I would like to see a test that shows a measured amount of gold going in and how much of it the machine catches. There isn’t anything like that on utube.

      Bill –

I did many of the tests you are requesting when I was finalizing the design. I will take my video camera and a Recon the next time I go to the Yuba River (Very fine gold 50-200 minus mesh and large concentrations of ilmenite). I will run a video test using three two gallon backets of material (one blank, one charged with gold then one blank immediately pounded in right after the gold has entered)then do a weigh in.

It might take a couple weeks but I promise to do the test. When done I hope you’ll change your rating!

Just bought my Recon sluice from Crisson Gold Mine in Dahlonega today and went down to a local creek. It was very easy to set the sluice up. I ran three buckets of 1/4 inch classified material through the sluice with no issues. I think it might be best to do a clean out after every bucket just clear the pebbles that get stuck in the grizzly. I got 4 flakes and another 20 colors or so. So much better and quicker than panning with just a shovel, classifier, and pan.

Actually having a few rocks in the grizzly is no problem. We normally clean after 4 five gallon buckets if black sand is light. If you have heavy black sand I would start with cleaning after two buckets and adjust as necessary.
